Many of us want to act to help the Earth. Some causes and places resonate with each of us more than others, but we all want to make a difference in some way and in our own special places.

You may not know Cowaramup Bay(“Cowara”-purple crowned lorrikeet, “up”- place of). You may visit here or you may live here, or you and your families may have been here for thousands of years, either way, the Bay is home to all of us because it is like every other place on this planet upon which we depend. Every place on this earth, every plant, every creature is important for its own sake, but in the end, every place has its part in sustaining us.

There can be no better words than from the Wadandi people, the traditional owners of this land.

“It is important for others to have an understanding of, and connection to our land, to respect and learn from the Wadandi land and sea management practices, so that together we can all explore ways to keep “Caring for Country”.

Whilst on Wadandi Boodja (Country), we respect the area and walk softly on the Boodja and take time to listen to the Boodja as she Wongi Birak (Talks of the Season).

We can all benefit from the powerful sense of belonging that is offered by the cultural sounds, rhythm, spirit, art and people.

Showing respect and acknowledgement to our Aboriginal people – working together – we can learn and educate ourselves about the connection that we all have with Mother Earth. Knowing its value keeps us together.”
